Utah Medicare FAQ’s
Q: What is a Medicare Supplement plan?
A: A Utah Medicare Supplement insurance plan helps cover the “gaps” in coverage that are left unpaid after Original Medicare pays its portion of your health care expenses.
Q: Can you help me compare Original Medicare to the Medicare supplement, PPO, or HMO plans?
A: Yes. Visit our Utah Medicare Supplements section.
Q: What should I consider when purchasing a Utah Medicare Supplement Insurance Policy?
A: Be sure that you understand how it works with your original Medicare plan and that it minimizes your out of pocket expenses. For more information call us at 1-801-979-6365 and we’ll help you find the right plan.
Q: Why should someone buy Medicare Supplement Insurance?
A: There are out-of-pocket costs not covered by Medicare (Part A and B) and a Medicare Supplement Insurance policy may help you fill these gaps.
Q: Does it cost me anything to work with Utah Senior Services?
A: No. The insurance carrier you select, will compensate UtahSeniorServices.com for servicing you. You are NOT charged, and your premium will not be increased for working with an agent, plus you get personalized service.
Q: Will a Medicare Supplement cost less if I purchase it with an insurance company instead of Utah Senior Services?
A: No. Utah Medicare supplement rates are regulated by the federal government. Because of this your rates will be same for the same plan whether your purchase it through us or the insurance carrier. At UtahSeniorServices.com we take pride in being knowelegable in the A-Z of Medicare so give us a call at 1-801-979-6365 and we’ll help you sort through your options.
Q: Can I keep my current doctor?
A: As long as your doctor is a Medicare provider you should be able to keep seeing them because Medicare supplement insurance companies do not have networks.
Q: Do I need more than one Medicare Supplement policy?
A: No. It is illegal for insurance companies to sell you more than one policy.
Q: Will a Medicare Supplement plan cover me if I have a pre-existing condition?
A: Possibly. Insurance companies will usually ask for proof of prior coverage before offering coverage for a pre-existing condition. However, there some instances when it is not necessary to provide proof of prior coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Q: What can I do if I’m declined for a Medicare Supplement Plan?
A: No two insurance companies have the same underwriting standards. So, if you are declined we can simply review your application and submit it to a different insurance company. At UtahSeniorServices.com we pay attention to detail and try to do it right the first time to avoid this situation.
Q: Can my Medicare supplement insurance be terminated for any reason?
A: No.The Federal Government provides protection against this happening. However, an insurance company can terminate your coverage if you fail to pay your premiums, if there are any omissions or misrepresentations on your application, or if the insurance company becomes insolvent.
Q: How long must I keep my Medicare Supplement plan before canceling?
A: Medicare supplement insurance policies are a month-to-month contract. So you may cancel at anytime.
